Mondays, February 1 - February 22 (4 weeks)      4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Students will work in hand-building techniques such as pinch, coils and slabs. Students will explore their imaginations, develop their creativity, and create pieces that are functional or whimsical. Decorative slips, textures, and glazes will enhance and complete the projects.

Tuesday, February 2, 9 & 16      6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  

Create a beautiful hand-painted floorcloth for your home or porch! You will learn the basic principles of prepping the canvas, transferring a design, painting the design and finishing the canvas edges. This class is perfect for beginners.

Wednesdays, February 3, 10, 17 & 24      9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Students will be instructed on methods of painting difficult subjects such as glass, metal, fabric, candlelight, etc. In addition, the students will learn various painting styles (broken color, drybrush, scumbling, sgrafitto, etc.) Each class session will include a “painting clinic” where the student will learn how to improve an already completed painting (e.g., “can this painting be saved?”) Some critiques and demos included.

Hand-building and wheel-work. Basic to advanced, with an emphasis on hand-building for beginners, working up to using the pottery wheel. Intermediate to advanced students will receive additional guidance to advance in their skill level. While there will be structured lessons, this class is also an opportunity to pursue personal projects with the advice and counsel of your instructor. Lessons will cover basic construction techniques along with a serious introduction to glaze and surface treatment.
