a limited palette of mainly
transparent paints and a
variety of subject matter,
this workshop will explore
light and shadow, layering
color and texture for glow
and use negative space for
depth and richness. Lynn
will provide reference material,
plenty of handouts, and
lots of

&
13 10:00
a.m.
- 4:00
p.m.
This
workshop will focus on the
incorporation of texture in
both hand-built and wheel-thrown
pots. Traditional forms such
as bowls, cups, jars, teapots
and vases will be demonstrated.
Slab construction will be
presented parallel to wheel-thrown
work, exposing participants
to a wide range of techniques.
The basis of this class is
the exploration of functional
pots. The focus is on process, not
finished pieces. No glazing
or firing will be done. Students
should supply their own tools.

Have
fun with this medium!
We will paint on crumbled
rice paper which creates
a
batik look to the painting.
The pour technique will
be used to create an underwater
scene. Using salt and
blowing paint with a straw
are “fun” techniques we
will be using. Our third
painting will be a hardscape
of cliffs using saran
plastic wrap, bubble wrap
and gauze.

June
21 - 25 10:00
a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Each
day begins with a one-hour
demonstration followed
up by shorter demos during
the day to emphasize techniques.
We’ll work from photographs,
creating
thumbnail sketches that
will lead us to painting
using the mystery of light
and the importance of
allowing mistakes. Positive
critiques will be offered
through
the day. Learn how to
shift consciousness, just
slightly, so that your painting
experience is more meaningful.

Taking
the “collage aesthetic”
a few steps farther, this
class picks up where the
earlier class left off
in looking for ways to
enhance the look and feel
of your work through the
overlay of images, textures,
materials and ideas relevant
to your work process.
We re-examine basic collage
techniques, glues and
supports
with the emphasis on collaging
materials of your own
making - in addition
to employing found and/or
recycled objects and materials.
