“Coast to coast through all seasons,” from the Alaskan coastline in spring, summer in Delaware, autumn in Maine and the winters of Colorado, this is the theme of the display I have assembled. We live on a continent of such diverse landscapes, moods, and characteristics, from the glaciers of Alaska to the deserts of New Mexico, from Yellowstone in Wyoming to Yosemite in California. So many paintings waiting to happen. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to capture some of those incredible landscapes on a two-dimensional surface and have assembled them into a collection of paintings. This body of work depicts the truly diverse landscape of our Nation, including the quaint coastal towns nestled against the majestic mountains on the Alaskan coastline, to the calm and sandy beaches of southern Delaware. In addition, there are paintings of the grandeur of the Monterey Peninsula of California, the pueblos and dramatic skies of New Mexico, the bubbling streams, and the rugged Rocky Mountains of Colorado. 

Joan, is a California native, and a graduate of Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. She focused her education and career on Computer Science and spent most of her working career in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After retirement, Joan rediscovered her interest in drawing and painting and enrolled in hometown lifelong learning classes. The spontaneity and intensity of watercolor and the ability to describe the magnificence of any landscape on a two-dimensional surface took her breath away. Her paintings have been on display in many National and International Exhibitions, and she was selected as one of sixty artists to exhibit in the Colorado Governor’s Art Show for three consecutive years. She has been represented at galleries in Denver and Colorado Springs and is a signature member of several watercolor societies, including the Delaware Watercolor Society, Colorado Watercolor Society, Baltimore Watercolor Society, and the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society. Since moving to Delaware and joining the Delaware Watercolor Society in 2022, her paintings have won awards in several of the DWS local exhibits.
